When it comes to horse racing simulation games, the truth is there aren’t many that are actually good. Over the last decade, we’ve seen the dominance of two game-developing houses that occupied the world of horse racing video games. We are talking about PikPok and Koei Tecmo.
To be honest, even their games are not up to the standards of the latest gaming world technology. However, there is a new, reworked kid on the block.
Koei Tecmo released their Winning Post 10 2024 series, and it looks promising. From the trailer itself, we can see that we are talking about one of the best horse racing simulation games ever produced.
The graphics are improved, and there are tons of new mechanics, different breeds, training regimes, strategies, and more. The goal of this game is to teleport you into the real world of horse racing, and it kind of does that.
Graphics
The most visible improvement in the latest Winning Post 10 game is the graphics. The game features a revamped 3D racehorse model with strong attention to detail. This is a game where horses are quite realistic, and they are even better than games like Myth of Empires.
One thing we can notice right from the start is that horses have added a lot of texture to their skin and coat, and on top of that, we have muscle movement, just like in Red Dead Redemption 2.
This is the most realistic we’ve seen horses in horse racing simulation games since the birth of this gaming niche.
On top of that, there are many variations in the shapes and sizes of each horse’s eyes, mane color, coat, etc. It seems like they’ve spent a lot of work on the horse’s appearance, making it look unique.
We also have to mention the realistic race tracks with enhanced lighting and weather conditions changes based on the season and time of day.
Horse Personality
The best thing about this game is the unique approach it has towards building your horse’s personality. It seems like the game developers knew that we wanted to create a special connection with our horse, which is why they’ve spent a lot of time giving us mechanics that can make our horse unique.
The personalities of your horse are revealed in the new “uma-personality.” This is a place where you can learn what’s important to discuss horse. Not just its personality but also what the horse likes and dislikes, its strengths and weaknesses, and many
These stats change as the horse grows and as it participates in different events. The stats changes are based on experience earned in races, events, and training. As the horse’s personality grows, so do the player’s selections and decisions in races, which can greatly affect the outcome of a race.
Training
If you’ve played in the previous Winning Post series, you’d know that they have plenty of different training options. We also now have Historical Training, where you can deploy effective training techniques such as “Shinzan Iron” and “Loose Rein Training” to boost your horse stats.
There are many different training methods that can help you boost certain stats and abilities for your horse. This opens up many new possibilities for players who want a unique training approach just to squeeze out most of the horse’s potential.
The not-so-basic training approach gives players more freedom in preparation for a big event like the Preakness Stakes.

Elements
If you were a fan of the Elements introduced in the Winning Post 9 2022 series, then you’ll be excited to hear that they are also present in Winning Post 10. This includes “Starting Year Scenarios,” Owners Club and Club Farm, Online Horse Championship, marriage elements, and more.
Racehorse Data
The best thing about the Winning Post 10 series is the data. If you are a true horse racing fan, then you know the importance of data, especially when competing in big events.
The game includes all the latest racehorse data as well as program guides. This means that you’ll not only have fun playing the game but also learn about the sport.
Is It Worth It?
Yes! Let’s get one thing clear. This is not a game made with the same attention to detail as the Witcher 3. However, it is the best horse racing game available on the market. It has the best graphics, elements, features, mechanics, and more.
The only catch is that it is only available in Japanese. Yeah, that’s a bummer. Some of their previous Winning Post series were also available in English. I guess we have to wait and see whether they will release an English version of the game.
