Latest World, Amazon’s new open-world MMO, debuted on Tuesday, but complaints continue to pour in from users claiming that the game may brick costly NVIDIA graphics cards. Among these are concerns about the r/newworldgame forum, as well as reports from German hardware blogs like WinFuture, which recently disclosed that New World bricked one of its GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3090 GPUs in a recent post. This is said to have happened when the creator just closed the game.

The following is a quote from WinFuture:

However, it seems that different triggers continue to place such a load on the susceptible EVGA and Gigabyte graphics cards that a hardware breakdown may occur. We discovered a substantial increase in load while changing the graphical settings in our local surroundings, while just quitting the game resulted in a “bricked” Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3090 Gaming. The fans scream at their maximum volume, the screen goes dark, and the computer shuts down.

PowerGPU, a firm that has been manufacturing custom PCs since 1999, has released another alarming study. Customers have been sending PowerGPU emails claiming that their GPUs have stopped working after attempting to play New World. Some people claim that their graphics cards failed before they could even get to the main menu.

As a result, we were forewarned. After playing New World, several players have reported that their GPUs have stopped functioning.

All this implies is that they didn’t participate in the beta, and we expected others who didn’t to experience the same problems.
